Mekelle University Center for Phisical Societies of Universities in Tigray Hosts Virtual Summer School
From August 11 to 15, 2025, Mekelle University's Center for Physical Societies of Universities in Tigray, supported by the Ethiopian Physical Society in North America (EPSNA), hosted a virtual summer school at Mekelle University’s main campus. The event aimed to promote physics education and research across Ethiopia.
Organized by EPSNA, the summer school brought together scholars, researchers, physicists, and students from Ethiopia and around the world to share knowledge, research findings, and explore opportunities for collaboration. It also served as a platform for networking and advocacy, strengthening ties with the Ethiopian Physical Society (EPS) and engaging in impactful short-term projects like summer schools to boost physics research and training in Ethiopia.

Participants highlighted the importance of the virtual summer school in enhancing physics education and research in Ethiopia. The event provided a valuable platform to foster academic partnerships and promote science education, particularly in the physical sciences, across Ethiopian institutions.
In the ranking of participating universities, Mekelle University secured second place, following Wellega University.

In his closing remarks, Dr. Abdelkader Keder, Vice President for Academics, emphasized the significance of such virtual summer schools and encouraged Mekelle University to continue supporting similar initiatives. The event concluded with a certificate ceremony and a dinner party.
