After-Action Review Workshop Successfully Concludes at Center for Applied Ethics and Critical Thinking, October 5, 2024.
The Center for Applied Ethics and Critical Thinking hosted a successful After-Action Review workshop today, marking the culmination of a three-month project aimed at recognizing, advocating for, and empowering the Abo-Gerebs in the Maichew and Mekoni regions. Launched in July 2024, the project has made commendable strides in a short period, facilitating a series of impactful activities across both sites.
The workshop provided a valuable platform for participants to review major project activities, share success stories, address challenges, and discuss research outcomes. It also set the stage for planning future initiatives moving forward.
Twenty-seven participants gathered for the workshop, including representatives from the Abo-Gereb communities in both Maichew and Mekoni, key stakeholders, and experts from Mekelle University, civil society organizations (CSOs) focused on Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) programs, and the interreligious council based in Mekelle. Legal Aid Center representatives from the College of Law and Governance also contributed their insights.
Key events during the workshop included:
-Presentation on Deliverables: Mr. Assimee Misgana, head of the Philosophy Department, presented the deliverables of each project activity, providing a comprehensive overview of achievements throughout the initiative.
-Joint Action Plans Briefing: Attendees engaged in an informative session on the joint action plans developed by the Abo-Gerebs and key stakeholders from both Maichew and Mekoni, outlining collaborative strategies for ongoing support.
-Research and Learning Presentation: Mrs. Birhan Habtie, Dean of the College of Law and Governance, delivered a presentation summarizing the research findings and proposed pathways for future endeavors.
-Discussion and Reflection: The workshop culminated in a dynamic discussion, where participants shared their insights, challenges, and lessons learned. This segment was highlighted by numerous constructive ideas from the audience regarding the project’s continuity and evolution.
The After-Action Review workshop not only celebrated the project’s achievements but also fostered a spirit of collaboration among the stakeholders involved. The productive discussions underscored a collective commitment to addressing challenges and ensuring the sustained impact of the initiatives launched in support of the Abo-Gereb communities.
The Center for Applied Ethics and Critical Thinking extends its gratitude to all participants and partners for their contributions and looks forward to the continued journey of advocacy and empowerment in the Maichew and Mekoni regions.
