The city of Mekelle 🇪🇹 and the city of Witten, Germany, 🇩🇪 have come together this week to renew their sister city relationship. This partnership symbolizes a bridge between communities, fostering mutual understanding and shared growth. Etiopia-Witten association was established in 2011 and was fast progressing in bringing these two cities closer. Since the COVID pandemic and later the war the partnership was limited only to virtual communications. Etiopia-Witten association remained as the leading donor to Ayder hospital. The association also helps five elementary schools in Tigray. Recently it has started a school feeding program in Laelay Seken, Temben with an excellent academic result. Dr. Kibrom Gebreslassie, Chief Executive Director of the College of Health at Mekelle University is currently in Witten Germany to discuss with partners. He has also made presentations to international students at Ruhr University Bochum, members of Etiopia-Witten association and will conclude his visit after presenting to students and members of Gothe University at Frankfurt.
