Mekelle University College of Veterinary Sciences (CVS-MU), alongside AFROHUN, eleven sister veterinary colleges, national referral labs, research institutions, federal ministries in Ethiopia, and a consortium of international partners including the University of Bologna, Vet for Africa, and the IZST Referral Lab in Italy, on 30 Sep/2024 organized a significant one-day workshop dedicated to exploring the realm of zoonoses. The workshop, entitled "Zoonosis: One Health Approach, Ethiopian and Italian Experiences," was held at the prestigious Italian Cultural Institute.
The workshop was inaugurated by HE Dr. Fikru Regasa, State Minister of the FDRE Ministry of Agriculture, who underscored Ethiopia's continuous dedication towards eliminating, controlling, and preventing zoonotic diseases and neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) in his inaugural speech. With the primary goal of fostering collaboration and exchanging insights between Ethiopian and Italian experts, the workshop sought to strengthen One Health strategies in addressing zoonotic diseases effectively.
