Call for Small-Scale Project Proposals (MSc/MA Training for Experts from Stakeholder Agencies-Thesis basis): MU-HU-NMBU-ICP-V Program

Overview

The MU-HU-NMBU-ICP-V Program aims to support 5 MSc/MA thesis-based small-scale research projects in 2025. MU staff who are advising MSc/MA students from stakeholder agencies are invited to submit proposals for MSc/MA research grants that align with the research themes of the MU-HU-NMBU-ICP-V Program of enhancing food systems.

Scope

The focus area of the proposal must be aligned with the theme and sub-themes of the MU-HU-NMBU-ICP-V program (refer to the attached document for the themes and sub-themes of the program).

Eligibility

  • The applicant must be a member of the MU staff who advises MSc/MA students from stakeholder institutions/agencies who are enrolled at MU.
  • MSc/MA students should provide a letter of institutional support from their employers for the grant.
  • The MSc/MA students should be in their 2nd year (at research work stage), and proof of evidence should be submitted from the registrar.
  • All members of the team must have an ORCID iD and MU institutional email, as well as MU researcher Profile (for MU staff only).
  • Should present a clear plan to publish research results in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Indicate other result dissemination mechanisms (other than publications, optional).
  • The MSc research proposal theme should be within the scope of food systems.
  • The research should be carried out in one of the two ICPV “LIVING LABs”, namely the “Des’a-HaikeMas’hal-Giba catchment” and the “Guguf-Tsige’a catchment in Raya-Azebo”.
  • The maximum number of advisees per applicant advisor is 2 MSc/MA students.
  • Fulfill all other ICP V project evaluation criteria

Proposal Requirements

  1. Use the attached MU research proposal and CV format
  2. For each research member, provide the pertinent supporting letters listed at the bottom of the MU CV format (Annex A).
  3. Refer to the evaluation instrument attached here.

Budget

  • Budget is ETB 120,000

Submission Guidelines

  • Proposals and supporting documents must be submitted electronically in Microsoft Word and PDF format.
  • Please send your proposal via MU e-research using 10.10.200.5 

Evaluation Criteria

Proposals will be evaluated based on the criteria above and following all the stages stipulated in the attached evaluation instrument.
