Overview
The MU-HU-NMBU-ICP-V Program aims to support 35 medium-scale research projects that will benefit the 35 in-house PhD scholarship students funded by ICP V. In addition, their supervisor, co-supervisors, and a female staff researcher will benefit from the grant.
Scope
The focus area of the proposal must be aligned with the theme and sub-themes of the MU-HU-NMBU-ICP-V program (refer to the attached document for the themes and sub-themes of the program).
Eligibility
- Applicants must be MU staff who advise and co-advise the research of ICPV in-house PhD scholarship award recipient students.
Note:
- The main advisor and the co-advisor/s must apply as a single team.
- Advisors/co should submit a consent letter from the ICP-V in-house PhD scholarship recipient student.
- All members of the team must have the MU researcher Profile, including ORCID iD and MU institutional email.
- Should include at least one female MU staff researcher as a team member.
- Both the medium-scale research project and the PhD student's research should fall within the ICPV thematic area (food systems).
- Should present a clear plan to publish research results in peer-reviewed journals on an annual basis.
- Indicate other research result dissemination mechanisms (other than publication, optional).
- The research should be carried out in one of the two ICPV “LIVING LABs”, namely the “Des’a-HaikeMas’hal-Giba catchment” and the “Guguf-Tsige’a catchment in Raya-Azebo”.
- Fulfill all other ICP V project evaluation criteria (attachment)
Proposal Requirements
- Use the attached MU research proposal and CV format
- For each research member, provide the pertinent supporting letters listed at the bottom of the MU CV format (Annex A).
- Refer to the evaluation instrument attached here.
Budget
- Budget is ETB 900,000 for three years.

- Proposals and supporting documents must be submitted electronically in Microsoft Word and PDF format.

Evaluation Criteria
Proposals will be evaluated based on the criteria and following all the stages stipulated in the attached evaluation instrument.
